Greetings All,
I have a trojan in my XP computer and I have been trying to delete it by
finding the file using Windows Explorer, or right clicking on
start,explore,etc. I can click on C:documents and
settings\myname\localsettings\temp\temoraryinternetfiles\content, etc.
However, I cannot get past"myname", I can't seem to get to local settings
and beyond. Can someone tell me how to do this seemingly simple task? I
double click on documents and settings and there are two folders, user and
the one with my name on it. I dbl click on that one and look for the folder
named local settings and it is not there!
I have tried deleting temporary internet files the other way, but it doesn't
seem to delete this trojan. I have a post on another virus ng that is
helping me with the trojan problem itself. If anyone could help,I would
appreciate it.
Jim

On the menu bar that would be click on tools>folder options>view> select
show hidden files> click ok. You may also want to use these. Download,
install, update and run all of the following.

Ad-Aware
http://www.pcbutts1.com/downloads/aawsepersonal.exe

Spybot search and destroy
http://www.pcbutts1.com/downloads/spybotsd14.exe

Ewido Security Suite Trial version

Microsoft Windows AntiSpyware (Beta1)

If none of the above fixes the issue then download Hijack this, run it, save
a copy of the log file and cut and paste it back here to this group so that
I can analyze it.

Will,
I just got thru running the Panda scan and although it did not detect the
1st trojan "mirc/ircflood trojan", it did detect another virus
called"zapchast.ao", however Panda did not tell me how to delete it. It said
something about the scan will disinfect it itself, but it did not and I
can't find instructions for removal. I also ran the Trend Micro scan and it
did not detect either one. Hmmm.
Thanks,
Jim
