Hi, can anyone help me? When I try to open Internet
Explorer the following message appears: "Windows Explorer
has encountered a problem and needs to close". This is
also affecting other Windows programs by preventing me
from opening my Recycle Bin, My Computer, and my Control
Panel. I have unninstalled Explorer and re-downloaded
but the problem persists.

Jason,
I think you have an adware, spyware, parasite type program interfering with
IE. Right-click your IE shortcut. Choose Properties> Advanced, uncheck
"Enable third party browser extensions."

If that allows IE to run, work through the solutions at
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm

If unsuccessful with that, can you download (on another machine) then run
Ad-aware ... http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/ (about 1.5 MB)
Spybot S&D ... http://www.safer-networking.org/ (about 3.5 MB)
Remove items listed in red- others are optional.

Once you're up and running, you should still visit
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm for security tips.

Hope this helps,
Don

Hi Jason,

I´ve the same problems and tried the following ways
without any success:

Reinstall SP3
Install SP4
Remove IE 5.5
Install IE 6.0
Reinstall W2k with the R-option

Nothing helps, if you get any answers please let me know,
thanks.
