I've been having a problem with XP since I first started running it. This is the deal.

I have a folder where I store all of my mp3 files, downloads, etc. And I like this folder to just display:

FILENAME | SIZE | TYPE | DATE CREATED

I have it set to that, and it refuses to cooperate. Everytime I set for only those fields to be displayed, and reboot later, I come back into that folder, and everything is reset back to:

FILENAME | SIZE | TYPE | ARTIST | YEAR | DATE | yadayadayada

I hate this. In Folder Options, I have save each folder's settings checked.. so this should be saving, correct?

Anyone have any ideas? I figure it's user error, since after 3 re-installs (for other reasons) I'm still seeing this problem, so I don't think it's corruption or anything. Could it possibly be resetting due to clearing my history in IE?

What about settings? Shortcut to this folder is just a shortcut with a target of F:\Downloads. Is there a way that I can actually open Explorer.exe, point to this folder, and tell it manually in the shortcut to only display these views?

Thanks

XP by default will only retain the settings for 400
folders, To change this to 8000 run this registry edit
from Kelly.
