While moveing the mouse on the desktop screen or on the
office bar I get the following message:

Application Error The instruction at "0x0061004e"
referenced memory at "0x0061004e". The memory could not
be "read". Click on OK to terminate the program.

After clicking on OK the desktop screen is blue and I have
to restart windows 2000.

I have installed Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 and still get
this problem.

I get the same error message with different instruction
and memory area given each time I get the error.
I have have only seen the error when the desktop is
displaying after logging onto the W2k pc with sp4.
I get the same results with the blue screen lockup and oly
option is to power off/on reset the pc.
I have 110 w2k pc's, all with sp4 and hot fix kb823980.
In the last 2 months I have had 8 pc get this error all
the same way.
The 1st failure 2 months ago, I 1st replace the memory
with no help and then unloaded and reloaded sp4 and it
quit doing it everyday to once every 2 weeks. The other 7
w2k pc's since then I have unloaded and reloaded sp4 with
the same results of still getting error every 5 - 10 days.
I will check next time to see if it happened while moving
the mouse on the desktop or on the office bar. As far as I
know now it just pops up while the desktop is being
painted at login.
