Hello, this is my first time posting, and its because I am in dire need of some assistance.

I start my other computer, its a windows xp home edition, I boot it up fine, and chose a user. After everything loads I get a "windows explorer error" and it says it needs to close. it asks me if I want to send an error report or not, and either way, eveything stops working and closes, but then just reloads. After a few seconds, the same error comes up. I can't access anything important this way, and the same error comes up in safe mode.

I tried booting from my repair CD that came with the computer, but I push "R" to go into repair mode, and then it asks me for the user, I push 1 for Administrator, it asks for password, I put it in, then it gives me a command prompt.....

and I don't know what else to do. It should start up the CD repair sequence, but it doesn't.... and I'm at a loss of what to do. Can anyone tell me how to either get rid of the problem or start though a repair solution?

My only concern is saving my files, like word documents, music, etc. Programs aren't a huge deal to me, I can reinstall them if needed.

If anyone has any advice, I'm willing to try it. Please help me!

Boot into safe mode. You can boot into safe mode be pressing F8 on boot up.

In safe mode, goto run and type in "eventvwr" without the quotes. Then, check the system log to see what is crashing. If there's a constant reason why the computer is crashing, then, we can isolate your problem and fix only that piece.
