Hi;
"Explorer has encountered an error and needs to close. We
are sorry for the inconvenience"

When I open 'My computer' or use Windows Explorer it
seems to function normally for awhile, then crashes. I
have reinstalled XP to solve this frequent problem and
that hasn't worked

Any help would be really appreciated!
Phil

Phil, I'm having a very similar problem and it just
started four days ago. Win Explorer crashes temp. taking
my task bar, sys tray, and start button with it (or
freezing them if it doesn't close out, also my Active
Desktop must be resotred. At first it acted that way
after I created a new folder in 'My Pictures.' After some
experimenting that folder disappeared but still when I
change the View of 'My Pictures' from Thumbnails to List,
Explorer will crash. I'll let you know if I have any
luck fixing this.

Phil, I found this in the Microsoft Knowledge Base,
Article #320563, - "If you try to use Windows Explorer to
view the contents of My Computer, and the Folders Explorer
Bar is displayed, you may receive an error message similar
to the following: Windows Explorer has encountered a
problem and needs to close. We are sorry...

"This behavior may occur if programs from the Kodak
Picture Software CD version 1.3 or earlier are installed
(such as Kodak EasyShare: Camera Connection, Picture
Transfer, and Picture Software)."
Does that help you? I don't think I have Kodak Picture
Software on my PC (I'm not home right now) so I still have
to find what is causing my trouble.
