Hi All,

I am not sure whether this is the right forum, but I will go ahead
anyways. I have a number of files of FCE format, which is a 3D model
format. It would help me immensely to have some way to preview these
files (using an existing custom viewer) in the details section in the
windows explorer itself.

Can anyone suggest how I should go about customizing the Windows
Explorer to suit my requirement? Any comments/pointers will be hugely
appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Best Regards,
Nikhil

If you have a viewer capable of viewing these files, you should be able to
simply right click the file and select Open With from the menu. Select the
viewer from the list there or click the browse button to locate the .exe
file for the viewer. If you want this file type opened with that viewer,
select the Always open this file type with this program option and select
OK. You should then be able to simply double click the file to open in that
viewer.

Thanks Ronnie,

Is there any way to see a thumbnail preview of these files (generated
by the viewer on the fly) displayed in the "Details" section (below
"Common Tasks" section on the left side of the files) of the Windows
Explorer, when I click a file (or select it using the keyboard)?

Moreover, how can I add extra details (like number of polygons) to the
file details (right click->properties->summary->advanced)

Thank you for your help and any more information will be greatly
appreciated.

Best Regards,
Nikhil
