Everytime I right click on the icon for a photo, I do not
get the options to cut/copy/paste. Instead, Windows
Explorer closes every time and I get an error report. The
same thing happens when I highlight the photo icon and
click on File at the top of the directory. I have Windows
XP home edition. Can anyone help me?

Do you happen to have Adobe PhotoShop or
Elements installed?

If you do...right click on a .jpg file and choose
Properties. Click the Photoshop Image tab
and uncheck the "Generate Thumbnails" button,
then click OK.

I am getting the same Closing problem. I have Windows XP
Pro. The Problem has been posted several times in this
Newsgroup with NO Positive Fix! I don't have Adobe
Printshop or Elements installed in my system; besides if
you can't right click without Crashing Windows Explorer
then John Inzer's fix won't work! I have sent an error
report to Microsoft; but haven't received a Support
Solution. If you know what the Fix Is - Please Respond! !

Give us a little bit more info.
1. Did you upgrade from 98 or ME to XP
2. How much RAM memory do you have. It should be a number like 64, 128, 256,
or 512?
3. Were you ever able to right click on a photo and get the options?
4. If you answer yes to 3. did the problem start after adding more photos in
the folder?
5. About how many photos in this folder?
6. Can you make a new folder and then copy 5 to 10 photos in this new folder
and then try to right click on one of them. Same problem?

At least this will get us thinking about some possible solutions.

Shorto's System:
1. Clean install on a new hard drive in Jan 2003.
2. 512 mb Ram Memory
3. yes - Used to be able to Right Click OK
4. I Don't Know exactly when it started - but I have
added subfolders and .jpg & .bmp files and everything
worked OK - The problem surfaced about the time when the
DCOM Security Update came out - I Think!
5. 2-5 in some subfolders - ~35-30 in others.
6. No - I just created a Temp folder and copied some
photo's to it and the Explorer still crashes.

Any Help is Appriciated! - Shorto
