To the Microsoft Tech ([email protected]) who responded to my
original post on 5-17, did you ever get a resolution to this?
Does anyone else have info?
TEXT OF MESSAGE:
There is a bug that occurs in Windows explorer when Internet explorer
version 6 is installed on the system.
In computer systems with Internet Explorer versions earlier than version
6.0 there is a difference in the way in which Windows Explorer behaves
during copy, move and create shortcut operations. This occurs on all
Windows 98/95/ME/XP systems.
With the earlier versions (below version 6) of Internet Explorer
installed, using Windows Explorer, you right click and drag one or more
files to a destination folder. When the right mouse button is released
the destination folder is highlighted and a context menu appears to
select the desired operation.
However, after installing Internet Explorer 6, or on any Windows XP
system, when the right mouse button is released, the highlighting of the
destination folder disappears and instead, the source folder is
highlighted. This makes it unclear where the files will go. There should
be no reason to highlight the source folder during these operations.
Uninstalling IE6 reverses the bug and the system again performs as expected.
I have searched the internet and the Microsoft website and have found
almost no mention of this behavior or a fix. This is all I have found:
see Microsoft article KB255311 (previously Q255311). This article
describes similar behavior in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server

Any info you can supply would be appreciated. Thanks.
