When I click to open up windows explorer, it disables my
active desktop. Click once again, and it returns the
active desktop. Ineternet explorer doesn't do anything.
I've even reinstalled it and nothing.

I've done Norton antivirus scan on it. Spybot and ADAWARE
programs all in the safe mode to try and find what's
killing these programs off.

Explorer and internet explorer work in safe mode.
Internet explorer at least comes up and says web not
available.

Any idea's? I've been racking my brain for 7 days for a
fix.

To update:
I've loaded Netscape 7.1 So now I can browse the web. But
to no end can I get explorer / IE to work as of yet.
I've tried to use 'SFC /SCANNOW' to repair the laptop. But
the laptop is in a remote location. Need to have a win2000
CD on hand for the scan to work. Should have a CD here
today to try and fix explorer. Will update as this goes
along.

Anyone's experience, or other hapen stances are
appreciated on this subject.
Thank you.

I did the Scan with a 2000CD, It didn't help.
I did notice that I could use netscape to browse and act
as my windows explorer for now. It takes out the gui type
of ease of seeing and accessing everything. System still
viable till a real fix comes along. If it is a Virus of
unknown origin, it attacks the gui interface with in
explorer. The base gui of the desktop still remains. Will
load more info as I come up with other tricks and
solutions.
