I right-click start - explore and then click on one of my other drives and
(where it was alwas instant, it (the hour glass) just sit there for-ever now.

I ran sfc /scannow and it went away for a while but it's back.
I ran the over the top upgrade..... (and again) went away for a couple days
but it's back.
The only way out is to ctrl/alt/del and stop the process but that just gets
me out and doesn't fix anything.

So, here I am posting ........ any ideas whats going on??

Not sure if this is relevant for you but I've noticed when I have a mapped
network drive and that resource is not available any longer then Explorer
can slow down considerably, at least when you first open it. For instance, I
have a co-worker's USB drive mapped but when he leaves for the day or is
off, etc., then I experience this issue.
