Hi, I'm running Vista home premium upgrade, and I can see the Windows
Experience index on my Control Panel\system window (3.6) but when I click on
the Windows Experience link I go to the Control Panel\Performance
Information and Tools page, but the Windows Experience Index details are
missing completely, so I can't re-run the index. I know it was there a few
weeks ago, but its not there now. How can I get it back?

I tried running System Restore going back over three restore points over at
least a week, but it wasn't restored. I also tried reinstalling Windows
Vista, but when it was nearly complete it said that there was a problem
loading some system files and it regressed the installation.

Thanks and regards,
Dweebs

Hi Dweebs,

Click Start, type regedit.exe and press ENTER
Navigate to the following locations:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Control Panel\Performance Control Panel
-and-
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Control Panel\Performance Control Panel

Check if a value named "PerfcplEnabled" exists in the above keys. If so, backup the corresponding branch by exporting it to a .REG file. Then delete the value "PerfcplEnabled" from the registry, and close Registry Editor.

If you used a utility like TweakVi you can fix it also. Start TWEAKVi and go
to Misc. Tweaks and click on the first link on the right. When that opens
go to Control Panel Restrictions II. aud uncheck the Turn off access to the
Perfornance Center. I had that same thing happen to me also.

Thanks for the info! Looks like most users who posted about this problem are using TweakVI.

Hi, and thanks a lot, I had installed TweakVI a while ago. Your
suggestion to use TweakVI fixed the problem neatly.
Best regards,
