Windows Experience Index goes down with more ram and faster proc.

I added 1GB of Corsair XMS CL2 ram to the 2GB I already have. I lost .1 on
the memory Index. I then went from a 3.4GHz 512\800 cpu to a 3.4 Extrme
Edition cpu and I drop .1 on the processor index.
What gives?

Could be a few reasons. The new 1GB of RAM you installed may be set at a
different speed than the other RAM, if slower it could slow down the other
RAM meaning slower RAM overall. The processor is tricky, you went from
3.4GHz to 3.4GHz, no improvement there, however with the "Extreme Edition"
cpu, it may sound like a better processor in the ad but is actually set at a
slower clock speed. Vista only recognizes generic timings set from the cpu,
RAM etc.

No different if you overclock your cpu, Vista, most likely, will still
report it at the stock speed.

Just guessing.

True. The timing may be different in the BIOS for your RAM. Also, if you
added it and are running 4 sticks of RAM, instead of 2, it can go slower
(don't ask me why, it just happens in benchmarks!).
