I understand Windows Embedded Standard to offer the best of XP and Vista or
Windows 7

Will Embedded standard give me the desktop look of a Vista O.S. ? If
embedded standard is a cross between the two Operating systems, what
components of standard would be the equivalent to Vista?

As far as I know WES is based on WinXP and has no Vista or W7
functionality.

Mike is right, I've upgraded recently from XP Embedded to Standard and
the only difference is that Standard now comes with SP3 bundled. It's
essentially the same thing, with a different name, probably
Microsoft's attempts to phase out the XP name.
