When I close out of my windows mail, it says windows mail can compact the
message store. This could take a few minutes. I have been hitting the cancel
button b/c I am not sure what it is trying to do. Can anyone tell me what
compacting the message store does?

The Windows Mail 'Message Store' is a separate file with an entry with an
entry for each message. When an entry for each message. Deleting the
message does not remove the entry for that message, thus cluttering up the
message store until it is compacted.

This message keeps popping for me also. When I click OK it says it is
compacting then a new window pops up saying that Windows Mail has stopped
working, I then click close program. Since this has been happening, I can not
see any e-mails in my deleted folder. I have checked to make sure that the
current view for the deleted folder says show all messages. Any suggestions
