I am trying to set up Windows email. Previously I used Outlook Express. All
the settings (server names, etc) are the same in the new account as they were
in Outlook Express. I enter my username and password over and over and
cannot receive new messages. I get the following error message: Account:
'pop-server.elp.rr.com', Server: 'pop-server.elp.rr.com', Protocol: POP3,
Server Response: '-ERR Authentication failed', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No,
Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92.

you can look up the error numbers using GOOGLE.

Solutions that work for
me may not work for you

Proceed at your own risk

First, if you have an antivirus program, disable its email scanning
function. Reboot. Delete your email accounts, then recreate them.
Did that fix the problem?
