Windows DOS boxes access all drives

Every time a DOS app runs under Win2k, Windows pauses it until all the
sleeping drives spin up. Is there a way to prevent the DOS boxes from
enumerating the drives?

Explorer does the same. Don't give them drive letters, use mount points.
