Windows Documents and Settings is not accessible Access is denied!

I recently restored my computer with the original factory disc and I chose
the option to keep all of the old settings and files so as if I needed
anything from them I could move it over after the freshg instillation.

However I forgot that my user name had file protection under the computer
administrator settings.

I can see the file where my documents are but I am denied access to the file.

How to I get around this as I have many pictures of family and friends that
I would hate to lose

By "file protection" I'm assuming that you mean that you made your My
Documents private and *not* that you used encryption. If you have XP
Home, then encryption isn't available.

If you are quite sure you didn't use EFS to encrypt the files, then all
you need to do is take ownership of the files.
