Windows XPpro SP3 is causing DEP to give me a warning about a "DOS 5 File
Compare Utility" published by Microsoft every time I log into a particular
computer.
What is this DOS 5 File Compare Utililty? Is this something I should be
concerned about? I tried to do a 'google' search on it and didn't find
anything specific.
I don't like the idea that DEP is being triggered by it. My AV scans every
Sun and hasn't found anything.
Help!

Update:
I narrowed my problem down to just 'one' user logon and the culprit it the
"userinit" in my 'startup' of msconfig.
if I turn it off I don't get any of the warning messages.

If I logon with a different userID I don't get the warning message.

How can I diagnose this any further as to what is causing the problem?

hey Brad,

I was having the same problem as you. One day it just started poping up.
Anyways I
went into C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Start Menu\Programs\Startup where
"userinit" was located to check it out. As soon as i opened Startup, McAfee
detected "userinit" as a trojen and completely removed it. havent restarted
yet to see if it fixed it but I figured I'd let you know.

ps thanks for telling me where to find it =)
