Windows - Delayed Write Failed

I thought it was because my system was not paging, but
that seems not to be the case. Although it fixed several
other problems! :)

So I try to run an install that should ahve no trouble.
A third party set of drivers.
Mostly I am doing it to test the viability of my build.
So I have something set wrong, but nothing has leapt out.

It reads like the hard drive is full, but that is not the
case with 60 GB free.

The full text of the message is:
Windows - Delayed Write Failed
Windows was unable to save all data for the file <file
name and location>. The data has been lost. This error
may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or
network connetion. Please try to save this file
elsewhere.

My thanks in advance,
Ben

Did you happen to include EWF (MS Enhanced Write Filter) or VenturCom Write
Filter into your image?
If so, your write filter cache seems to be getting overflowed. If you need
to install the software (drivers) persistently, just disable the write
filter and then do the install.

KM,

Thanks, I will have to give that a try.
I did have EWF included, and since the plan has changed
and we are not going to be creating the install CD, I
just took it off along with El Torito.

Ben

KM,

I started from scratch with my image again.
This time I am adding in components one at a time instead
of running down the list adding everything I think I
might need.
The first attempt had this error and the
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL blue screen happening, so I
thought this approach would help.

And I have the standard and networking on top of the
components for the hardware.

So no EWF or El Torito at all.

And I am trying to install a set of drivers. When I do I
get the same error.
I have the virtual memory set up as well, but after a
while of these delayed write messages, I also get a popup
that says that the install could not run, because ther
was not enough memory.

Any ideas/suggestions?

Sorry for the obvious question but what're your partition settings in TD?
You mentioned your HD is 60Gb but if you have only small partition on your
drive that may cause problems with the space.

Also, IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL is known problem on XPe SP1. However, it is
related to EWF which, as you mentioned, you have excluded from your image.
Anyway, just in case, here is more info on the related qfe:

a255-a6941bb7296b&displaylang=en (doesn't hurt to import the qfe but please
install the Q811279 qfe first).

KM,

The partition is the full drive.
And it barely has anything on it.
I am actually building the image on a machine that cannot
run it, so I make a ghost image of the partition with it
and then put the ghost image on the target machine.
Once it is on the target machine, I run the FBA.

And I opened another topic about the IRQL error, since it
just happened again.
The real pain is that once it happens there seems to be
no getting away from it.

Thanks,
Ben
