hi I recently downloaded defender 2, during a full system scan my computer
makes a terrible sound & I am sure it is rescanning files its already
scanned?!I have had to cancel the scan-this has happened twice now.It doesn't
happen during a fast scan. Is there a problem? let me know. Thanks momof3

Sounds like a failing drive. I would disable Windows Defender until you've
backed up all of your data.

I am pretty sure I have read about this probem elsewhere, It happened to me
on a full 'scheduled' scan, the computers floppy drive went mad when defender
came to scan that particular drive, I tried disabling that drive in the
options section but it still occurred, but I realised that I did'nt have a
disk in the floppy drive..(never have!!) found one put it in before a scan
and hey presto.. runs through no problems!.
I think we have to remember this is a 'beta' version and I think Microsoft
are aware of this particular issue. Hope this quick fix helps.
