What is the value of this application? Is it needed if I have other anti-spy
ware programs in place. I removed Defender and found a lot of new free space
on my disk.

You usually need to run several different malaware apps, particulary if your
usage attracts malaware.

It's an anti-spyware program.

That depends on which and how many you have. One isn't enough. If you
have two or three other good ones, you don't necessarily need this
one. But personally, I prefer more protection, rather than less, so I
run it alongside the other anti-spyware programs I use.

A "lot"? That's hard to imagine. How much do you call a "lot"?

On my system the program folder is only 4.6 mb, which demonstrates your
point.

On my system,Add and Remove reports it as 11.1 mb but Folder Sizes
reports it as 4.57mb. hmmmmm.......

In Add / Remove Programs mine shows as 8.88 mb.

The comparable figure to 4.6 mb ( Windows Defender ) is 6.08 mb for
Adaware Personal SE.

These are not significant figures!

Hope this helps.

Exactly! That's way under one penny's worth (US) of disk space. It's
inconsequential.

If someone doesn't want to use Defender, that's fine, but the amount
of disk space it takes up is not a good reason for making that
decision.

Either way, it's a *tiny* amount of disk space.

Perhaps the difference is because I am using W2K.

It is almost a waste of space to even talk about it! Drives are quite
large these days and even 100mb is no big deal. Now memory and CPU
usage, that is more of an issue. Seems that many systems are sold with
not enough memory these days for any serious multi-tasking.
