The Beta 2 version of Windows Defender seems to be a bit wimpy in detecting
spyware. I have been using it with automatic update since it was first
available. I also update and run the free Ad-aware once a week where 2 or
three malware programs are detected. A few weeks ago, I downloaded the free
(Free until mid-January) AVG Anti-spyware program which removed hundreds on
its first scan.
I have always felt that the Grisoft folks were on the level. The detection
of hundreds that the other two had missed, makes me wonder if it really
found that many, or the notification was bogus, in order to sell the new
(not free) version come January.
After all of that, will the Windows Defender that comes with Windows Vista
be more robust?
