Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on my situation. When I start
up my computer, I get this message: "Application failed to initialize
0x800106ba. A problem caused Windows Defender Service to stop. To start the
service, restart your computer or search Help and Support on how to start a
service manually".
I've restarted my comp., still get the same message, I've done the Help and
Support thing, no info to help me...
Does someone know what I need to do.

Hello Anita Ive also the same problem. Just reading thru some of the other
blogs, will follow-up on Efrain comments on the situaion ie " New Windows
Live OneCare
1.5.1882.4 integrated it under Virus and Spyware 1.10.1951.6. More
expirations will be comming...Norton,Karpesky,...Panda. Try WLOC 1.5, its
very good." - Efrain

I believe this Live OneCare can be located at the bottom left of the windows
page will download this and try it out. If you have already found a or
another solution to the windows defender prob, I would be gratefull for any
assistance. Otherwise try me later and i will let you know how things have
worked out with new download. Happy new years to ya!l

I have about 6 users getting the same error message. I have started the
serives and rebooted the machine... still getting the error message.

The problem started today. Nothing on the network has change. The only thing
is the year that has change, but I do not see how it could affect it.

Please advice.

thank you

My friends:
As a Defender beta tester that I was , it is sad to know that soon we will
say goodbye to this great stand alone program. But the good news is, it will
exist as an integral part of the Windows Live OneCare. It will be the
Antispyware part of the great WLOC. Beta Defender expired but the nonbeta
Defender will live forever in WLOC. You can still download the nonbeta
Defender.
Try this if you have XP. Remove Defender completely. Install WLOC 1.1 for
XP. If during the installation you refuse to install Defender, a yellow icon
will be shown in the task bar. No Defender, no blue icon.
During January WLOC 1.1 for XP will upgrade to be similar to WLOC 1.5 for
Vista. Our Defender will be there as the Antispyware part. The scan for
spyware will be done by our Defender.
For the rest of the antivirus programs, competition will be very difficult.
Maybe WLOC will incorporate a registry cleaner..and improve...and improve...

So, how long will the Defender beta '1593' version be in existence? I'm pretty happy with things the way they are.

Hello Jim;

Not to worry... there is no Beta Windows Defender at this point it's a
Released product at version 1593
(81664-405-0877132-04325),

Though I hesitate to use the "F" word... it is Free Forever with genuine
windows validation, at least until Bill Gates retires.

Thanks ;-)
