Windows Defender

Windows has just updated my Microsoft Antispyware to Windows Defender, and
the home page tells me that the definitions haven't been updated for 98 days.
When I click to update a message by the systems tray informs me that it is
acquiring new definitions and engine upgrade, and then later says that
Windows Defender is up-to-date, but the Home Page still says that it hasn't
been updated for 98 days. What do I do to ensure that updates are up-to-date,
or to change the home page warning?

I'd recommend going to Windows Update, doing an express scan, and accepting
all offered high priority updates. This should include Defender
definitions, and it may also include some prerequisites that will make
automatic updates function in the future. Does Windows AutoUpdate work on
this system?

sThank you, the Windows Update worked and Windows Defender say that the
computer is woking normally. We don't have an icon for Defender in the
sytems tray now, is that normal? As far as I know the Windows AutoUpdate
works, as there is a history of XP updates

Not having an icon is normal. The design is that the icon will be displayed
if user input/attention is needed. You might want to run this way for a
while to see how that works. If you really want an icon, tool, options,
scroll down to real-time protection options, and look at the bottom of that
panel.
