What is up with Windows Defender update. It shows that I have not updated in
72 Days. Went to Windows update, which shows that I have updated Windows
Defender to the latest update over 30 time, but the home page shows last
update in January. Never had a problem before. Tried the custom install, no
good. Removed WIndows Defender, took out all reference to Defender in the
registry and re-installed Defender with the same results. What gives?
 
Try this. Others have reported that it works to solve that problem:

Step 1:
============
1. Click Start, click Run, type "msiexec /x
{A5CC2A09-E9D3-49EC-923D-03874BBD4C2C}" (without quotation marks) in the Open
box, and then click OK.
2. Download and install the Windows Installer Cleanup utility from this
following link:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/E/9/D/E9D80355-7AB4-45B8-80E8-983A48D5E1BD/msicuu2.exe
3. Run the utility from Start -> All Programs -> Windows Install Clean Up.
4. Select the Windows Defender Definition file entry from the list
and click Remove.
Step 2:
============
1. Open Internet Explorer.

2. Please go to Microsoft Update:
http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/ and install the updates for
Windows Defender.

Done all the above the Defender updated and work to perfection.
