DO NOT INSTALL Windows defender on your computer - it doesn't update - and
sends a message that it's not enabled - even though in services it is
enabled. This should not be available for public download. So now we have IE
7 which is full of bugs and errors plus Windows Defender that installs but
will not update. Tried it on three different machines and the same error.
This is sloppy and shoddy work on behalf of Microsoft.

Jay - are you on a managed network with a SUS or WSUS server? Have you
followed the steps in the kb article mentioned by curious spectator?

There are some bugs in getting updates going, but I can assure you that it
does, in fact update for most users.
