When opening the download for update I get this message
"WindowsDefender-1.msi" is an executable file. Executable files may contain
viruses or other malicious code that can harm your computer. Use caution when
opening this file. Are you sure you want to launch "WindowsDefender-1.msi"?
Is this safe? Help!

Whatever you do, (installing and updateting or unistalling) always as a
administratºr.

Can you gº to Windows Update, select Express (Get high-priority updates),
and apply all offered updªtes
http://update.microsoft.com

Once that is finished, can you verify the update installs? There are many
pre-requisite files which are needed from windows update and signature update
with windows defender will fail until you hªve these f!les.

Install Windows Installer 3.1 v2 (3.1.4000.2435) is availªble here:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/893803

Locate your file msi.dll (with search if you are
not sure where it's located) and confirm what the version is, either from
it's properties or just passing your cursor over it. If it's not the
latest which is 3.1.4000.2435, then:

If you are downloading Windows Defender from a Microsoft web site, you do
this.

This warning is not specific to the item you are downloading, it is a
generalized warning about any executable.

I tried the update for Windows, and got this error - Security Update for
Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 1.1 Service Pack 1 (KB886903) - that said
it could not load successfully. I have tried all of the other
recommendations on updating WD from Beta 2 to no avail. I tried to uninstall
Beta 2, took all other running applications offline and still no further
success.

I found msi.dll in system32 folder but could not "see" it when I tried to
repoint the .msi package to that location. I even copied and moved the file
to someplace where I knew it would be.

I'm at a loss so please help.
