Check your system restore and see if WD is again making checkpoints. this
started with me on Tuesday when the first "daily" updates started.

and I just checked in WD. After the last update it put "BACK" the checkmark
in "softwre that has not yet been classified for risks".

I only had the second option checked.
It did this on all 3 computers too.---huh?

Also since they are updating almost daily I am also seeing Software
distrobution Service 2.0 now making a checkpoint too. Does that mean we are
going to fill up with SDS's every day? that is just as bad as checkpoints.

Don't you think someone from Microsoft should tell us the updates they are
doing so we can monitor any changes?

You all better check your WD to see if it made changes too and also check
System Restore.

Hello Robin,

Tools > Options in Check for updated definitions before scanning, and Apply
default actions to items detected during a scan. Those are the only boxes
unmarked and in the page Join Microsoft SpyNet, I have Join with a basic
membership, marked.

With my set up, I don't have any problems. No popups, No extra SRP, etc. etc.

This work for me, try my set-up maybe work the same for you.

Jul 30. I have two Restore Points = System Checkpoint and a other created
using the http://safety.live.com/site/en-US/default.htm
Jul 31. I have one Restore Point = System Checkpoint

Agu 1. I have one Restore Point = Software Distribution service 2.0
Aug 2. I have one Restore Point = System Checkpoint
Aug 3. I have one Restore Point = Software Distribution service 2.0

Try it Nothing ventured.. nothing gained. :-)

I'm using XP Home sp 2
 
how come you are in basic microsoft spynet and not advanced?
Isn't important for WD to send out info for microsoft?
I just unchecked the 2 that you have unchecked but i am still in advanced in
spynet
lets see if that makes a difference

i just tried unticking those two boxes- and went to WD to do the new update
and not only did i get a system distribution chk pt but i got a WD
checkpoint too

also someone here said to be in advanced- that would stop the ck points and
they did until the first update this week.

Well, I said 'no' to all the options about that, Robin, so I think I'm not
in anything. (It's all part of my feeble attempts to control the variables in
this runaway experiment.)
