Automatic failed again, had to use Resolution to remove old 1410. After
removal it updated ok to 1436, using About in Windows Defender and Check For
Updates. Will wait for next week update and see if Microsoft fixes the issue
by then.

Efrain - same here on one pc - the other updated without a problem this time.
Go figure - last time they BOTH failed - time before that they BOTH updated.
They are on a home network and basically set up the same. I can't figure
it out - sometimes all is well - sometimes all is crap. Oh well, maybe they
will gain control of this problem soon - I am still getting some restore
points from Defender also for no apparent reason. Guess we are progressing
- s l o w l y!

Don't give up, keep posting your problems, soon o later the team will find
the solutions.
John, I have a post in this NG "System Restore Points", since then no more
SRP after each bot, there, I explain what I did, now, what exactly happen or
what cause to stop, I don't . I'm surprised myself, but so far no more SRP.
Maybe you should try the steps.
Nothing ventured.. nothing gained.

I will never give up my Defender, its part of my Windows OneCare. Also, I
feel great reading all your daily posts; nice and friendly people. John, can
you be more specific on the Defender restore points. Do you have Windows
System Restore running? Where do you find the Defender restore points?

Previous three updates installed first time from Microsoft Update (express),
but this one did not (although it said successful, event viewer log showed
otherwise). Had to use windows installer cleanup utility, then it installed
from within WD, check for updates.

This is Steve Dodson [MSFT] reply to the update issue:
"Are you running the latest build which we refreshed a few weeks ago? If you
are not running build 1343 (help-> about), can you go out to
http://www.microsoft.com/spyware and download the latest one? We have not
turned on automatic updates from beta 2 to beta 2 refresh as of yet."
I upgraded to version 1.1.1347.0 , which is the new beta 2 refreshed. We
will need to wait until he turns on the automatic updates, now on 1343, to
the refreshed 1347. No problem.

Only from time to time WD will not update, 1410.10 was hard to get (used the trix
from MS)
but today I have 1436.4 just without having done anything
