windows defender stops and displays error message

when i run a scan,windows defender stops and displays:encountered an error
0x800106ba.a problem caused this service to stop.to start this service
restart your computer or search help and support for how to start this
service manually. but every time i restart it it is still the same and if i
try to start it manually it asks if im and administrator and uninstalling it
doesnt help it will do the same thin again .please any help is greatly
appreciated.
