Windows Defender Problems

I play bridge on line and starting nite before last could not log on....I
think it has something to do with Windows Defender....I removed my other
security on computer and still have X on sheild on tray of computer.....It
says Embarq is reporting in a format that defender no longer recognizes...I
thought have removed my security...Embarq, my security thorough my DSL
carrier, told me they have made no changes recently. I have done systems
restore 6 times....talked to Embarq, Microsoft, and they have no idea!!!!
Everything else,internet, and email work properly!!!
HELP!!!!
 
How up to date are you on patches and service packs?

If you go to Windows Update, is anything shown as available?

The message you cite comes from the Windows Security Center, not Windows
Defender.
 
I'm having the same problem and it is not recognized by Windows Defender
because it not adware or spyware. If you have an "x" on your icon on a
particular program it is a virus that is attached to the program. I have
Norton 360 and it cannot differetiate the virus from the program it is
attached too. Adobe Reader 6.0 is another just like this one. I just removed
the whole program and downloaded the most update program from the
manufacturer and WALLA! No more problems
