This is a weird one, but a customer of ours started complaining that she was
unable to view or save any of her email attachments after we installed a
couple of anti-spyware and antivirus programs on her machine.
We installed BitDefender and Windows Defender on the machine as well as a
bunch of Windows Updates. After further inspection, I realized that it
wasn't just email attachments that couldn't be opened or saved, but files
downloaded off the net as well. They would go through the progress of
downloading but then just disappear no matter where I saved them. Then I
noticed that for some reason, this Sharp Actius GP22W has its drive FAT32
formatted with Windows XP installed. I thought this was really strange.
In any case, I uninstalled Windows Defender and VOILA, the emails could be
opened and any files downloaded off the 'Net could be saved to folders.
Is there some sort of incompatibility with Windows Defender and FAT32 on an
XPSP2 machine?
Thanks!
Paul
