Windows Defender on Laptops

Whenever I "wake" my laptop up from Standby mode Windows Defender freaks out
and tells me all unauthorized or unknown changes are being made and tends to
not let my machine return to full state. Any suggestions or plans to address
power management issues?
 
You probably need to tell us the brand and model of the laptop.

I suspect this is an issue individual to the particular way the vendor
implements loading some drivers. I have another message from someone else
today which is ringing bells with this one, but I can't put my finger on
that one at the moment.
 
I have an Aleinware Area 51 m7700. P4 3.4GHz, 1GB RAM, WinXP (completely
updated), aftermarket Intel miniPCI Wireless NIC, aaannnnd... well, that's
all I can think of that would be relevant.
