Hey everyone.

Just a quick question here....

I'm having a problem installing WD. I can get as far as it shows the loading
bar and says something about "This may take several minutes". Well, the
loading bar doesn't load, just stays white. I have left it for over 30
minutes and it's doing nothing.

I have tried restarting the computer and closing other programs that are
open. It doesn't help.

It is definately something in my computer causing this, because i was able
to install it on my other computer without a problem.

I did have MS AntiSpyware in it before. Worked perfectly.

I'm running genuine WinXP Home Edition with SP2.

Any suggestions?

Thanks a lot.

I have the same installation problem- it gets about 3/4 of the way through
then stops permantely. I've let it go for almost 2 hours with no further
results. I installed beta 1 on my home system with no hitches. Tech support
has no help for beta programs so I'm hoping someone here has some suggestions.

I should also mention, I'm using XP Pro with SP2 installed via download. Have
essentially the same programs & set-up on this computer as on the laptop
where beta 1 installed perfectly.

I am having a similar problem installing WD on one of my three computers
(two worked just fine). The installation goes fine until it gets to the point
of Starting Services. Then I get ERROR 1920 Service Windows Defender Service
(Win Defend) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient priviledges to
start system service.

I have checked and I am the system administrator and indeeed the sole user
so what can I do to get the programme to run?

Have you disabled startup of other services on this system? RPC is the only
dependency for Windows Defender service, I believe.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I do not believe that I have deliberately disabled the start up of other
services. RPC is shown as started and automatic. RPC locator is manual and
not started.
