I have Vista Ultimate and Live OneCare, with Windows Defender v. 1.1.1505.
Windows Defender does not show up in Uninstall Programs. Can I download and
install the newer version of Windows Defender over the current one without
uninstalling the current one?

(I searched for responses to similar questions, but did not find anything
pertinent.)

Thanks,

Ron

Windows Defender 1.1.1505 is the version that is build into Windows Vista.
You shouldn't need to update it.

As Jesper has already pointed out, version 1.1.1505 is the current version
for Vista and therefore you do not need to upgrade.

I just received my new computer with Vista Ultimate and Defender 1.1.1505.0.
It will not run updates. I have searched for all the fixes and none of them
work.

Any suggestions as to how to get Defender to update witout getting the
80240029 error code?

I have Vista Home Premium and I'm getting 0x800106ba.
I need to update Defender and all available updates say that Defender is
included in Vista. How can I update the Defender which is included in Vista.

Hope you can help, thanks.

Never mind, I did a system restore and my WD is ok. You see I had
uninstalled WD because I ad to manually turn it on and I thought a new update
might solve the problem.

After the uninstall of WD that's when I started getting the 0X800106ba error.
