I tried to run Beta 1 with the shortcut icon on my desktop and it said it was
missing a file and couldn't run and I knew that Beta 2 was out so I
downloaded it. When I tried to install it there came an error:
Error 1905.Module C:\Program Files\Microsoft AntiApyware/gcTCPObjLib.dll
failed to unregister. HRESULT -2147220472. Contact your support personner.
I am the support personel for my home computer here.
Am using XP Media/3.2Ghz/4Gb. I hope I don't need to get into the registry
but will if I must.

Hello Rick,

I will try this:

Remember, (installing and updateting or unistalling) always as a administrator

Use System Restore to Undo Changes if Problems Occur
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/helpandsupport/learnmore/systemrestore.mspx

Donwload and Install, Windows Installer 3.1 v2 (3.1.4000.2435) is available
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/893803

D/L and install Ccleaner ( Slim version) -
http://www.ccleaner.com/downloadbuilds.asp
http://www.ccleaner.com
http://forum.ccleaner.com/index.php?showtopic=1504
Note, uncheck Yahoos toolbar during install.

Open Ccleaner and start the cleaning, press "Windows" "Aplications" and "Run
Cleaner" from the menu choose 'Issues' and then press scan for issues, Repair
any fºund.

D/L and install Beta 1
From http://www.filehippo.com Beta 1
http://www.filehippo.com/download/88f7471049179318fa98d78e1df25a33/download/

Is pretty risky getting a Microsoft file except directly from the
source--but in an emergency....

REMOVING BETA 1
Whatever you do, (installing and updateting or unistalling) always as a
administrator.

This needs to be run in safe mode.

Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel. Click Microsoft AntiSpyware and
click Change. Click Next, and then click Remove.

In Windows Programs files, delete all the sub-directorys and the folder MSAS.

Delete in Windows\system 32 :
GcColetion.dll
Hashlib.dll
GcUnCompress.dll
GcTypLibA.tbl
GcAntiSpywareLib.dll
GcUserData.gcg

Also, delete in Windows\Downloaded Installations, any reference about MSAS.

You can use Ccleaner (Twice)
Run the above remover in safe mode Ccleaner on all 3 settings(windows, apps &
issues) and clear anything found reboot and see if it still exists.

WINDOWS DEFENDER BETA 2.
I'd recommend re-downloading, and saving to a known location--like the
desktop.

After the download is complete, disable real-time protection by your
antivirus for long enough to do the installation. This may be worth trying in
your case.

Hi Rick,

--I knew there was a piece I forgot to get to...

Unistall Beta 2 first, and later go to my sugestion.

Engel,

Thank you for your post. I have copied it and will keep it for future
reference.

I have repaired the problem....turned out to be a simple fix but don't know
if it will be the same for everyone.
Just a bit more info on my problem...."add or remove" didn't work in control
panel. It just hanging up.
The fix.... I ran Registry Mechanic. Cleaned out the problem and I was able
to continue with the loading of the program and it works fine. I hope it
continues to do so.
