Windows Defender -Error message ox8007007e - Specified module not

When windows defender starts its automatic scan each week and in the event I
need to to stop it while it is running, for any reason, i get an error
message
stating: above error and that the Specified module could not be found. I have
to exit Defender completely to stop the scan from continuing. Help?? Any
ideas out there?

It'd be useful if you could copy Mow's instructions to a post in this
thread--that'd make it easier for others to find it.
