Even though I have defender set to auto scan everyday it refuses to run.
This has been just since the download of IE7B2 on the 24th. Anyone else
seeing this or have a fix or work around. Originally Post in Internet
explorer newsgroup but was told to post here.

Hello Richard,

Look in the Event log?
Start > Run > type "eventvwr.msc", hit "OK"
Windows Defender is logged in the "System" log.

OR, alternatively:

Start>Control Panel>Performance and Maintenance>Administrative Tools>Event
Viewer>System.

If you see WinDefend, you can right click on the entry to see more
information. If there are errors visible, you can click on a link within the
info box and Windows Explorer will connect with the Mircrosoft knowledge base
if you are connected to the Internet.

Go to View, choose Filter, and choose "windefend" in the source contrºl.

Look for yellow triangle entries that give the precise path and location of
what was detected, and use the button provided to paste the content of the
detection back to a messªge here.

Steve D. [MSFT] or Joe F. [MSFT] they can probably help.

I hope this post is helpful.

Let us know how it works ºut.

There is no entry in event viewer that goes with this. If it makes a
difference I am running Windows OneCare.

Scheduled scans are done via the Windows Scheduled tasks facility. Go to
Control Panel, Performance and Maintenance, Scheduled tasks.

In the menu at the top, choose Advanced, and View hidden tasks.

You should see an entry for MP Scheduled Scan. If you right click this
entry, and choose to run it--what happens?

Bill, I'm also having trouble with the auto scan. I've checked almost
everything here in the discussion groups, still no auto scan... just out of
curiosity I right clicked on MS scheduled scan and tried to run it and
nothing happened. What does this mean? (also under status it states that it
could not run).

Yes Tom, Stop using Task Scheduler is not checked . Should I turn this off ?
I never use it. My AV Kaspersky is the only other thing set to auto scan and
I don't even see it listed there.
