Hello Doug,

Windows Defender is a antispyware, no anti-virus.

Windows Defender will not hook into the XP security center, but it will hook
into the Vista security center.

Hi Engel, Just a brief not to say thanks for your help with my question. It
seems like I remembered reading somwhere that Defender 2 was an antivirus
program. My mistake, thanks for the answer

On the consumer/home user level, Microsoft's Antivirus solution is Windows
Live OneCare:

http://www.windowsonecare.com

I'm a little peeved at it this evening having spent some hours wrestling
with it on my teenage sons machine, but it usually works quite well, and
there's a 90 day free trial available.

Hi Bill,

Thanks for the information. I knew Microsoft had an antivirus program
because I remembered using it on my computer for awhile. I was unaware that
they had incorporated it into the Live Windows Care. Thanks
