Windows Defender Automatic Scaning

I have Defender set to the defaults and it will not do automatic scans.
I can manual scan with no problems.
It will not start a scan at 3 a.m. and computer is on 24/7 with access to
internet.
I went to this link and followed directions.

Seems to be working again.
I removed all referance to WD in scheduled and it works again.
Your reply didn't seem to fit my problem.
