The following problem just started to happen in the last few days.
Windows Defender keeps saying this program has potentially unwanted behavior!

I keep having to allow (over & over) the following:
Driver: ATWPKT2
File: C:\Program Files\CommonFiles\AOL\ACS\ATWPkt2.sys
Product Name: ATW Protocol Driver
Created: 7/26/2005

Windows will let me allow it but does not indicate allowed when I check on
allowed programs.

If I try to block it Defender says an error has occured.

Also, nothing happens when I got to About and click "Check for updates.

Help!

Hi Billy,

go in Wd to Tools>Options>scroll down to Advanced options Click on Add
Browse to C:\Program Files\CommonFiles\AOL\ACS\ATWPkt2.sys
Hope this will work for you.

I encountered this problem with ATWPKT2 as well, although it took a few days
for me to realise that Defender was quietly blocking it without telling me.
In hindsight, I think this may have explained the longer time it was taking
to sign on to AOL, after I'd installed Defender.

It's not happening now because I've switched off the Real Time Protection to
avoid multiple Defender Checkpoints. But I presume it remains an issue - and
I also wonder whether there's a link between the multiple checkpoints and the
blocking of ATWPKT2. Some of the timings looked very similar!

All of which makes me ask: do AOL users make up a large proportion of the
people who experience multiple Defender checkpoints every day?
