Curiously I just did a clean install of Windows Vista Home Premium onto my
laptop (that passed the Vista compatibility tests with no problem) and Vista
is running really well. No errors in the error logs. EXCEPT... each time I
start the computer or reboot into Vista, the Windows Defender icon shows up
in the tray with a yellow exclamation point. When I click on it the box pops
up saying Windows Defender is off and asks me to click here to turn it on.
Once I do that, Defender shows "green" and all runs well.
Why won't it stay on all the time like it is supposed to?
The only other software that is running is Windows Live OneCare (and its
status is Good).
Any ideas?
