I had to really clean my computer since it was bogged down with spyware to
the point where it shut down Defender. I think the spyware deleted the .msi
file for Defender so I am unable to uninstall the program and also I am
unable to re-install it since it needs to delete the old .msi file from the
previous version. Is there any way I can correct this problem to have
Defender on my computer. Thank you.

Hi Ryan,

Try the Windows Installer cleanup tool:
Windows Installer cleanup tool: read the info carefully before using:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290301

Use it to remove both Windows Defender... items listed.
The MSI cleanup utility sometimes has some side effects and should be used
as a last resort. If you use a version of Microsoft Office which is covered
by Office Update, you should check whether you are able to update via that
mechanism still.
