Windows Defender: A joke or serious work?

Removed AntiSpyware in favor of this Defender. Now Problem began:

1. Couldn't update the definition data via various ways.
2. Very Very Slow compared to AntiSpyware. Need several hours to complete
entire C disk (~4GB data)
3. Very incovenient to do everything. check update, update, scan, or join
your community
In All, a failure.
 
Definitions updates are via Autoupdate, Windows Update or WSUS. If you are
on a managed network, the WSUS admin may need to enable the new class of
updates.
