At some point in the last 24hrs Windows XP decided to delete both of the printers that I had installed. And now when I try to re-install them by clicking on the add printer button I get the message: "Operation Could Not be Completed" Any idea on what I should do? I would really like to be able to print again.

Start the Print Spooler and they should appear again as if by magic. From
the Command Prompt type:
net start spooler
(and hit enter)

I tried that and I get the Following Message:
System error 1068 has occured.
The dependency service or group has failed to start.

Cari...what do you do if using cleanspl.exe i accidently hit delete all and
deleated:

•BJ Language Monitor
•Local Port
•PJL Language Monitor
•Standard TCP/IP Port
•USB Monitor

How do i re-install? I use Windows xp Prof and install all of the updates

Download a new set of the driver software from the printer manufacturer's
website and install it. Should all be included in that package.

i tried to install the drivers from the disk that came with the
printer....(which is for xp) couold not install as my plug and play could not
reconize the printer....another device (printer) that i tried to install had
a message that said...."port not reconized" so i'm assuming the items i
deleated casued it......(or there needed to install drivers)

What make and model printer is this?

If you are connecting via USB, are you sure your USB ports are all working
correctly?

The files are not deleted when using cleanspl.exe, only the registry
settings. I am not sure how a recovery would work but a system restore to a
date before using the tool will gets the port and language monitor settings
back.

If you are familiar with adding registry entries, that can also be used to
get the monitors back.
