I'm getting a crash each time I try to browse the files on CDRs. These are
known good and were read OK until a few days ago. Every time I open the D
Drive folder, just after the files and folders are listed, windows "needs to
close".

I have another Program....PowerDisk Pro.....this program can read the CD and
browse fine. I can also list the files in DirectoryLister or import the
files (if they are MP3's into a WinAmp play list.). Browsing files in other
drives is unaffected.

Switching out to a different CD rom drive didn't help.

the event says the fault is in NTDLL.DLL. I found a new version of that and
put it in the windows\system 32 file but that didn't help.

Hi there,

You may download and install the Ad-aware spyware removal utility from the
following Web site:
http://www.webattack.com/get/adaware.shtml

Initiate the Adaware and it will deep scan the registry for spywares, After
the scan is finished, click [Next] button. Select all the items
(checkboxes). right click on any object in the "Scan result" list and choose
[Select all objects], Click Next and click OK to confirm spyware removal.

Hi there,

I dont think it is a adware as said by Microsoft Community star. It can
also be due to virus. Run the online virus scan:

http://us.mcafee.com/root/mfs/default.asp

http://security.symantec.com/sscv6/default.asp?langid=ie&venid=sym

If the problem persists, reinstall OS.

I tried the ADWARE fix. It didn't find much. I'm pretty careful. It found
about 30 tracking cookies only.

As far as the virus....I have always had up-to-date Norton and a Firewall.
I did a full system scan anyway last nite with nothing found.

Also did a sfc /scannow.

The only reason I regret having to reinstall the OS is the loss of system
settings, etc. The machine is set-up just right (Well except for this ;-(.
