Windows Crash - All Data Lost?

Tried to change my desktop background.

System froze. I had to do a Hard Shutdown.

Rebooted later after letting comp sit and it came up with
System Check Screen (Blue Screen)

It said it was restoring things and thus and so forth.

Logged in... ALL is gone. System is set as it was when I
first built it.

No back up files anywhere.. NOTHING.

Any help?

sounds like you had a power surge,you use a surge

protector?When it checked musta don a destructive restore
for you,sort of fixing damaged files.H/P pavilion or
comcrap? You have a partitioned drive with XP on it?If
you don't have a surge protector get one quick,and don't
have your old lady vacuum while your computing.
