windows could not start because

when I started my computer it says windows could not start because of missing
file. also, said to try to reinstall it. Im new to this therefore..HELP ME
PLEASE! I dont know what it is or where to find it or how to download it, Can
anyone give me some advice with this? The file was "uncdms.dll"

Uncdms.dll is part of Windows Desktop Search. If you no longer want to
use Windows Desktop Search, uninstall it. If you still want to use
Windows Desktop Search, reinstall it.

Have you tried Last Known Good Configuration?

You should uninstall Windows Desktop Search through Start, Control
Panel, Add / Remove Programs. You might be better without it. Many have
discarded it after trying it out.

What version of Windows Desktop Search has been installed?

If you have uninstalled desk top search, then run MSUpdate again, and look
at optional updates
