Hi,

I have a dell inspiron 5100 laptop. My problem goes back to when I tried to
connect my TV to the laptop via an S-cable. I had some problems which caused
me to upgrade and again downgrade the driver for my graphics adapter and now
finally everything seems to be working fine. Except that each time I start
Windows I get the following message 3 times:

"Windows could not find the installer for monitor. Please contact your
hardware vendor for assistance."

Followed by a found new hardware wizard popping up each time.

Of course I did contact my dell and they're help was useless. In device
manager it shows that I have three monitors installed and I am not allowed to
remove them. Strange since I just have a laptop panel and no monitor. I think
if I find a way to remove them everything should be fine.

Please let me know if you have any ideas. I'd really appreciate it.

Have you tried booting to Safe Mode and removing them there. Boot the
system start tapping F8 and continue to do so until the menu appears. At
the menu, select Safe Mode and press enter. Once in Safe Mode, attempt to
remove the monitors.

Thanks Mike,

But the monitors don't even show up in device manager when I'm in safe mode.
Do you know any other way that could work?

You might try using System Restore to take you back to a time prior to when
this began. Start\All Programs\Accessories\System Tools\System Restore.
